Build Your House

Proverbs 24:3,“Through wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established; By knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.” When we buy a new home, we make sure the important things go in the right place, then the smaller items and finally comes the decoration. When we open the door of our heart and welcome Christ in, He makes sure our names are written in the Book of Life. Then He helps us build our house one day at a time. It simply doesn’t happen without our willingness to walk and work with God. Below are some faith strategies for building your house: 1. Creating a Spiritual Atmosphere: You need to choose to say what God says. The devil does not know who is talking when we speak the same things as God speaks in His word. Matthew 10:20 says, it is the Spirit of your Father that speaks in you. Our Creator has put in us the ability to create with our words. We can live in a place of safety and at the same time create a safe atmosphere where we live. Psalm 91:1,2 talks about abiding under the shadow of the Almighty. In Genesis 1, we see that the atmosphere was dark until God spoke light. We need to play the offense and create a biblical atmosphere. We cannot afford to waste our precious time in unwanted trails the enemy would bring. Creating a godly atmosphere sets a tone for our entire household. Playing worship music and engaging in continual prayer will help create a spiritual atmosphere in our home. 2. Protect your Atmosphere: Psalm 91:2 says that God is our refuge and our fortress. Let us be aware of the influence that we would allow in our home. Media choices, conversations, music and friends are some of the things that can greatly influence our atmosphere. If we are not cautious, the things we tolerate might cause unwarranted trouble and fear. Ask God to give you the wisdom to protect your house. Galatians 5:16,17 talks about how the flesh lusts against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh. It is our duty to protect and preserve godly atmosphere in our house. Do not allow the luxury of yelling, quarrelling, poor choice of words and bad behavior in your home which opens door for wrong spirits. Do not permit your kids to rebel and be stubborn. Husbands and wives need to make an intentional decision not to destroy the peace in the home. When any wrong spirit is identified, deal with it immediately. Say, “Spirit of strife, leave this place in Jesus name! Spirit of unforgiveness, leave this house in Jesus’ name. 3. Anoint your home with oil: It is a good practice to anoint your home with oil in the name of Jesus. As you do this, invite the Holy Spirit and let the Spirit of God move in the lives of everyone living under that roof. God will honor your faith if you honor God’s word. James 5:14 talks about anointing with oil in the name of the Lord. Especially if you have a family member struggling with something, anoint their belongings with oil and pray in the name of Jesus. The prayer of faith will heal the sick. The day and age we live in, there are many struggling with mental illnesses than physical infirmities. Isaiah 10:27 talks about the yoke being destroyed because of the ‘anointing oil’. We want to destroy every kind and every form of yoke the enemy has put on our family members. Psalm 91:10 talks about no plague will come near your dwelling place. Drawing a blood line is very important. The Blood of Jesus is powerful. Resist the enemy and he will flee from you (James 4:7). In Luke 10:19, Jesus says, “I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” 4. Ask God for ministering spirits to be dispatched: God carries out His mission of protecting His people through God’s secret agents that are in the presence of God. Hebrews 1:14 talks about how the ministering spirits are sent forth to minister for us. There are some angels that are meant for war. God can literally dispatch those angels to carry out great things to protect you. The angels are powerful beings. And if you are a believer, they could be of a great help to you. 2 Kings 19:35 says, “And it came to pass on a certain night that the angel of the Lord went out, and killed in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred and eighty five thousand and when people arose early in the morning there were the corpses all dead.” This is how powerful one angel is. Imagine if angels are dispatched for you! In Psalm 91:11, “for He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.” That is a promise for you! 5. Speak the Word of God at all times: Deuteronomy 6:6,7, “These words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” God is talking about what you do in your house. May be this is not the most popular thing in this world today. But, it works. God’s word has power. God’s word can bring life into any situation. John 6:63 says,“The words that I speak to you are Spirit and they are life.” Put these above five strategies to work in your home and watch what happens! Your home will surely be built on the firm foundation of God’s Word. It is our prayer that you will be able to build your home with God on your side. God has great plans for you. Trust in God and may your house be blessed, built and established in Jesus’ name! Amen.
