Hindrances Of Faith

[otw_is sidebar=otw-sidebar-2]

1 Tim 6: 12, “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” The only fight a child of God will have to fight is the ‘fight of faith.’ The word ‘fight’ means to struggle or to strive hard.
Hindrances to our faith:
1. Lack of understanding of what it means to be a new creature

2 Corinthians 5: 17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” Everything has become new, when we are in Christ. Every old thing is gone and gone forever. We have to first get rid of that ‘poor old sinner’ mentality. After we become new creation, we need to abide in Him. That would mean we do exactly what He has said in His word. When we abide in Jesus, even the desires will be fulfilled. Praise the Lord. John 15: 7, ” If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” We need to get connected and stay connected to our source to bear fruit in our lives. Tell yourself that you are a new creation in Christ.
2. Lack of understanding of our place in Christ and His place in our lives

Galatians 3: 26, “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.” We are children of the most High God – His sons and daughters. We are joint heirs with Jesus Christ. We belong to the kingdom of heaven. As a child, we have access to God at all times and in every place. Ephesians 3: 12, “in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.” In being the sons and daughters, we have boldness with confidence. It is a double-fold blessing. We are seated in heavenly places. The God of the heavens and earth is our father. We are not alone in this world. He is always with us. We carry His presence where ever we go. Let us come boldly to His presence!
3. Lack of understanding of righteousness. What it is and what it gives

2 Cor 5: 21, ” For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. He made a righteous new creature.” We can stand in the presence of God without any spiritual inferiority complex or spiritual embarrassment. “Righteousness” means to have right standing with God. After our sins are forgiven, He looks at us as though we have never sinned. Our past is gone. God will not remember our sins anymore. If He does not remember why should we remember? 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Not only that, our prayers bring results. When we pray, God hears and answers us. James 5:16, “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
4. Lack of understanding of our right to the use of the name of the Lord Jesus Christ

John 16: 23-24, ” And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” Jesus was explaining His going back to the Father and how there was a new law on prayer to ask Father God in the name of Jesus. He was going back to the Father and so they needed to ask the Father in the name of Jesus. Mark 16: 15-18, “And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”Signs and wonders shall follow them that believe. Every believer has authority over demons and evil spirits. In the name of Jesus, they will speak with new tongues. They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover. We need to start exercising that authority we have in the name of Jesus.
5. Love of Money

1 Timothy 6: 10-11, ” For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.” If is not the money that is a problem but the love of money. There is a huge difference there. Money is good but the lust for money is the root of all kinds of evil. The Bible cautions us that some have strayed from the faith. Not only that, they fall down into the pit of greediness and sorrow. That is a dangerous place to be in. May the Lord help us to have the right perspective about money.
The great man of God, DL Moody started as a farm boy. He moved to Boston and was selling shoes. Then he moved to Chicago and became wealthy and successful in sales. But when the Lord called him for the Sunday school mission he left it all. In the first year, his income dropped from $5000 per year to $150. He did it gladly in the name of Jesus.
In conclusion, Paul admonishes to his spiritual son, Timothy in 1 Timothy 6: 12, “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” The word ‘lay hold’ means to seize. It is so important to fight the fight of faith.

May the Lord remove every hindrance in Jesus mighty name!
