Whom does God anoint?
God’s choices are very different from people’s choices. God chooses simple people and anoints them. 1 Cor 1: 26, ” God has chosen the foolish thing of the world to put to shame the wise and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put o shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are.” God chose Saul to be the commander over God’s inheritance.
1 Samuel 9: 21 says that Saul came from the smallest tribes of Israel and his family was the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin. He came from a small tribe. Look at the call of God on the life of Saul! The anointing came in search of the least and the small. This world looks for the great and the mighty. 1 Samuel 10: 1 says, “Then Samuel took a flask of oil and poured it on his head, and kissed him and said; is it not because the Lord has anointed you commander over His inheritance?”
1 Sam 10: 20, 21, “And when Samuel had caused all the tribes of Israel to come near, the tribe of Benjamin was chosen. When he had caused the tribe of Benjamin to come near by their families, the family of Matri was chosen, And Saul the son of Kish was chosen but when they sought him he could not be found.” Saul hid himself in a barn where no one could find him. He was hiding from people. He was a timid person. But God’s plan was that he would lead 3 million people.
Saul was looking for donkeys. Donkeys could mean ‘stupidity.’ 1 Samuel 9: 3, “Now the donkeys of Kish, Saul’s father were lost. And Kish said to his son Saul, Please take one of the servants with you, and arise, go and look for the donkeys.” While God had a great call on Saul’s life, he was busy looking for donkeys. Jesus told Martha in Luke 10: 41, “Martha, Martha you are worried and troubled about many things.” Many of us are so busy with many different things which may not be important in God’s eyes. God is saying that we need to be mindful of the eternal things. Romans 14: 17, “Kingdom of God is not eating and drinking but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”
Saul was instructed to hear the Voice of God. There is a difference between the Word of God and the voice of God. When we read the Word of God, we need to tune our spiritual ears to hear the voice of God. There is a voice within the Word of God. Hallelujah!
1 Sam 15: 1, 2, “Samuel also said to Saul, The Lord sent me to anoint you King over His people over Israel. Now therefore heed the voice of the words of the Lord.” The anointing will be with you and will teach you in every area of your life.1 John 2: 27 says, “The anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you”
What does the anointing do for you? The anointing will change you first. 1 Samuel 10: 6, “The Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man.” When you look for the anointing, the anointing will bring the all the things you need. All your need is contained in the anointing. Do not say that you are a worm or a dust after you have received the anointing.
The anointing will open the door for hidden riches. Is 45: 1-3, ” Thus says the Lord to His anointed…. to open before him the double door, So that the gates will not be shut. I will go before you And make the crooked places straight. I will break in pieces the gates of bronze And cut the bars of iron. I will give you the treasures of darkness And hidden riches of secret places. That you may know that I the Lord who call you by your name am the God of Israel.” Zac 4: 6, “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord of hosts.” Believe in the power of the Holy Spirit. To change this world we need the anointing. The kings and prophets in the Old Testament were waiting for a time when anointed people that will shake the earth. The anointing is working on your behalf here on this earth to live a victorious life. There are hidden riches in secret places. You and I may not know where they are but the anointing knows it.
May the Lord anoint you to do mighty things in Jesus’ name!
