The month of March is when we start the Lenten days on “Ash Wednesday.” For every human being, it is important to learn about the message of the cross. It would be a blessing to meditate on the cross of Calvary. Cross of Jesus Christ is where our victory is.

One day we were ministering at this elderly home here in the bay area, California. We had just finished our worship time. Everyone seemed to be very happy. We had just started preaching about ‘the blood of the Lamb.” One elderly woman did not seem to be very happy about the message. She said ‘stop that slaughter-house religion.” She got up and left. That lady did not want to hear anything about the blood of the Lamb. This is how some people are. The devil has blinded the eyes of the understanding so much that they do not want to hear about the cross where their victory is!

1 Cor 1: 18, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

Cross is more than just a symbol. People like to keep the crosses in many different places. What is the use of having just a cross and not Jesus in your heart? Paul says we preach Christ crucified. Cross reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice. The greatest work of our Lord Jesus was accomplished on the ‘Cross of Calvary’ when Jesus laid down His life for us. The love of God was manifested on the Cross of Calvary. Cross is a sign of VICTORY. You need victory over sin, sickness, Satan and curses.

1. Victory over Sin:

1 Thes 5: 9, 10 says, “God has not appointed us to wrath but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ who died for us. …” 1 Pet 2:24 says “who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness…” Rom 5:8 says ‘But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

God showed us mercy. People pay it forward when they receive something good from someone. Praise God for the thankful people! But, we did not do anything good to Jesus. The Bible says while we were yet sinners …. Think about that! This love is ultimate. He took the penalty of our sin on Himself by becoming SIN for us. Jesus did not die only for Christians. He died for all. He wants to set you free from sins.

Are you struggling with a sin issue? Do not sweep it under the rug! Run to the arms of Jesus. Ask Him to wash your sins with His blood that was shed on the cross of Calvary. Our God is faithful and just to forgive you.
2. Victory over sickness:

Is 53: 4 and 5 says, “Surely He has borne our grief And carried our sorrows…by His stripes we are healed’. Note the word ‘are healed.’ After the crucifixion of Jesus, in 1 Pet 2:24 we read, “…by whose stripes you were healed.” Note the word ‘were.’ That is a past tense. The New Testament saints ‘were’ healed. It is a thing of the past. Healing was won on the cross.
What do we do when we are battling a sickness or a disease? When we go through a sickness, all we have to do is receive the healing that has already been purchased for you. Jesus paid the price. Divine healing is provided in the atonement of Christ’s redeeming work on the Cross. Matt 8:17 says,’ He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. Thank you Jesus for bearing my sicknesses!

Are you hurting in your body? Jesus wants to heal you now. Claim your healing in the name of Jesus. He said “Ask and you shall receive”(Matt 7:7). Jesus paid it all. He took your sickness in His body. Say it out loud in faith, “I am healed by the stripes of Jesus.” Soon you will see your body responding to the word of God.
3. Victory over Satan:

Gen 3:14, 15 says, “The Lord God said….He shall bruise your head…” It means the Seed of woman (Jesus Christ) would someday crush the serpent’s head. The Lord Jesus has trampled Satan at the Cross. Rom 16: 20 says, “… and the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly.” Our victory is a continuation of Christ’s victory when He bruised the head of the serpent on the Cross of Calvary.

Jesus said in Luke 10: 19, “I give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Jesus said in Mark 16:17, “In my name you shall cast out demons.” Take that authority in the name of Jesus and cast the enemy out. Jesus has made you more than a conqueror. He always causes you to triumph.
4. Victory over Curses:

How does the curses come into a life? When there is sin, it opens doors for the enemy to bring a curse. Curses are contrary to the blessing. Curses stop people from receiving the promised blessing. Curses could run through generations called generational curses.
The Bible says in Gal 3: 13 & 14, “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having ‘become a curse for us’ for it is written, Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree, that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus…” The Lord Jesus not only redeems us from the curse, but he brings to pass the blessing of Abraham into our lives. This was made possible only because of the Cross.

Gal 5:24, Paul says, “And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” Tell yourself: I crucify my flesh. Flesh needs to be crucified daily.
Peter said in 1 Pet 2:11″…abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul.” Christ has given us the power through the Spirit of God who lives within you, to crucify the lusts of the flesh and walk in the Spirit. Christ paid the supreme sacrifice of laying down His own life so that you can live in one hundred percent victory over your flesh.

Let us says with Paul, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me”. Jesus said in Matt 10:38,”He who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me”.

What that means is that we walk away from sin and lust and follow Jesus. What is required here is a willingness to live for the Master. Each one has our own crosses to pick up. Are we willing to pick it up our crosses and follow Him?

May the Lord Jesus help us to crucify our flesh, pick up our cross every day
and follow Him! Amen.
