When we see the things that are happening around the world, we know that time is running out. The coming of the Lord is at hand. Jesus said in John 10: 16, “And other sheep I have which are not of the fold; them also I must bring and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.” There is a great urgency and much burden in the heart of our Lord when He said these words. He had just three and a half years to finish the work for which He was sent. Jesus said in John 9: 4, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day, the night is coming when no one can work.” Oh, there is a night time and it is coming!
When Jesus walked the face of the earth, he was busy in bringing people into God’s Kingdom. He spent a lot of time praying and preaching. He met people during the day and during the night. He ministered to the Samaritan woman during the day. Nicodemus came to meet with Jesus during the night.
Let us learn from Jesus. Let us follow Him. Oftentimes, we catch ourselves busy with the affairs of this world and there is not much time left for the things of God.
*Jesus divided the time into two parts: day and night. The day is far gone. The night is coming. The door of grace and evangelism is shutting down day by day. Still there are many who have not tasted the love of God. Who will bring them to the Lord? It is our duty. It is our responsibility to win the lost.
*The followers of Jesus were two-fold: The ones that followed him during the day and the ones that followed him in secret because of the Jews. Joseph of Arimathea and the Jewish officer, Nicodemus fall in that category.
*The sheep were divided into two. The ones that are in the fold and the ones that are not in the fold. These are the sheep that is referred to in John 10: 16 .These are the ones that we need to be after. God wants us to bring them into the fold.
Jesus is our example. Mat 5: 1, 2, “And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying.” It is a hard thing to walk up the mountain. It is a hard thing to preach for 3 days non stop, night and day. There was a large group of 5 thousand men, women and children too. Jesus worked hard.
The cost of one soul is more than the value of the entire world. Jesus said in Mat 16: 26, “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” In all that we do, we need to help people not lose their souls. We need to share the importance of choosing Jesus. In the eyes of God, each soul is precious, rich or poor.
There is a great reward for a soul-winner. Pro 11: 30, “He who wins souls is wise.” In the eyes of God, the only wise man is the one that wins souls.
Dan 12: 3,”Those who are wise shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever.” The ones that turn many to righteousness are the ones that will shine..
What is our role? Mat 9: 37, 38, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” In Luke 10: 25- 37, Jesus wants each one of us to become a “Good Samaritan.” The Priest and the Levite passed by on the other side. The Samaritan was willing to do the work. He had compassion. He poured on water and wine. He set him on his animal. He took out two denarii gave them to the inn keeper and said to him, take care of him when I come again, I will repay you. These are all the works that the good Samaritan chose to do. At the end in Vs 37 Jesus said, “Go and do likewise.” So far I have been thinking that the Levite and the priest did not do their job. But now I realize that I have not done my job when Jesus asked me to ‘go and do likewise.’
Dearly beloved, there is a job for all us to do individually. Winning the souls is not designated to a few. Everyone needs to be on board and everyone needs to be doing something along those lines – either praying for revival or sharing the gospel. God is counting on us. Will you take a decision with me that I am going to share the love of Jesus to at least one person this month? When we do that prayerfully, God will bless our work. When we get to heaven, we will have many that will receive us on the other shore. God bless you.
