I have often heard from the saints of God that they apply the blood of Jesus upon themselves and their families on a daily basis. I did not quite understand the importance of it then. Now I realize how much it is necessary to apply the blood of Jesus in faith believing for a hedge of protection around our homes. When the enemy sees the blood of Jesus upon you, he flees from your life. The enemy is so afraid of the blood of Jesus.
The Blood of Jesus can be applied:
The Old Testament saints had to literally kill a lamb and apply its blood on both the doorposts and the lintels for their protection.
In Exodus 12:13, “Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are”. God gives an instruction and not a suggestion. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt”.
It is something that every child of God should do. Today, we do not have to do what the Old Testament saints did. Everything was taken care of on the cross of Calvary. Jesus said “finished” when He completed the work. That means He has done all that we have to ever do for our protection.
Now, we need to know how to apply the blood of Jesus on us. All we have to say is “Jesus, I apply the blood of Jesus on me, my family and everything that concerns me”. It is a good thing to apply the blood of Jesus on you whenever you pray. Especially when you are in the work of the Lord, it is necessary you cover yourself with the blood of Jesus.
Exodus 12: 23 and 24 says, “…when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you. And you shall observe this thing as an ordinance for you and your sons FOREVER.”
The word ‘forever’ means always. The Lord has not changed His mind about His blood covenant with His people. Applying the blood was not limited to the forty years that the children of Israel journeyed to the Promised Land. The instruction was in effect even after they reached the Promised Land. It holds good for today.
Psalm 121:7 and 8 says, “The Lord shall preserve you from all evil. He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth and even forevermore.
The Lord wants to preserve you from all that is evil. He wants to preserve our soul. Our Lord has not changed. When we apply the blood of Jesus Christ we are appropriating all the benefits of the blood of Jesus Christ. We are pronouncing the benefits of the shed blood.
The Word and the Blood:
The Word of God says and the Blood of Jesus does what the Word says. The enemy tries to discourage you at every step, but when we apply the blood of Jesus, God’s overcoming power comes alive. The blood covenant is forever. The blood covenant that God made with His children is forever and ever.
We, as the children of the new covenant, have a better covenant. God has replaced the blood of sheep and goats with the perfect sacrifice, the blood of His Son. The blood of sheep and goats are replaced with the blood of Jesus. If the blood of the animal can protect the children of God in the Old Testament, how much more will the blood of Jesus protect the New Testament children?
There was one time I prayed for my Sunday class student in India. He was oppressed by the enemy and caused this child of God to do things that was not appropriate. The enemy was tormenting in every way possible. I rebuked the enemy. But the evil spirit wouldn’t leave. Finally, I pleaded the blood of Jesus on me and asked the Lord to cover me with His blood. Then I spoke up and said to the demon, “The blood of Jesus is against you”. At that the evil spirit left and there was a great deliverance.
Salvation and the Blood:
Our salvation was bought with the blood of Jesus Christ. Jesus shed His blood on the cross of Calvary for our Salvation and His body was broken for our healing.
God hears and answers prayers because the blood of Jesus has cleansed us of our sins and provided access to the throne of God. The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1: 7 says, “…the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin”.
Your spiritual journey starts with the blood of Jesus. Our sins are washed by the blood of Jesus Christ. Your righteousness comes from the blood of Jesus. Hallelujah!
Let the blood of Jesus cover you and yours in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
