We as the children of the most High God have a place of protection right here on earth. That is when we put on the armor of Light ourselves, and it is a choice. Romans 13;11-12 says, “ …let us put on the armor of light.” Notice that the apostle Paul said it is very important for us to put on this protection. Armor is something that keeps you completely covered – front, back, sides and top.
We see, many times Christians find themselves yielding to the works of the darkness. When it comes to the attacks of the enemy, they are sometimes at par with the heathens who have not tasted the love of God. How can the believers suffer like the unbelievers? How does the enemy manage to cross the borders? How does the evil one get through the line of protection? It could happen only if a person violated the higher commandment than the promises that he is confessing. Paul says it clearly in Romans 13:9-10, “For the commandments, You shall not commit adultery, “You shall not murder …love is the fulfillment of the law.”
Walk in the Love Commandment:
When we allow love to be perfected in our lives, it eliminates all the works of darkness. But when we violate the love commandment, the enemy quickly sneaks in, then sin enters and the light is taken away and we are spiritually without armor and vulnerable. Never violate the commandment of love! It is like going against the nature and the authority of a born again person.
John, the apostle of love said in 1 John 1:7-10, “When we walk in the light we can overcome that which pulls us into darkness. John 15:10 says, “If you keep My commandments you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.”
The key here is if we walk in love we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Matthew 22:37-40 talks about the greatest commandments. Jesus kept all the law by keeping the greatest law, the law of love. Jesus is not talking about loving others just when we feel like it. He is not saying you can love God and hate someone.
1 John 2:9, “He who loves his brother abide in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.” 1 John 4:20-21, “…..he who loves God must love his brother also.” It is a commandment and it is to keep us in the armor of light where the enemy cannot get near. Love everyone no matter what.
Examples of people who walked in the armor of light:
1. John the apostle: John the apostle of love, walked in the armor of light. From what the history tells, the Roman Government could not kill him even when they boiled him in oil. He was in the armor of light.
2. Apostle Paul, the author of the love chapter, 1 Corinthians 13, could not be killed by the people. He said about the Hebrews in Hebrews 11:35 that they might obtain better resurrection. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 4:6-8, “Paul willingly offered up his own life for a better resurrection”.
3. Jesus was taken to a hill by an angry crowd in His own hometown. In Luke 4:29-30, “They were threatening to push Him from the mountain. “Jesus passing through the midst of them went his way”. We read in John 8:59, “Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by”.
The above passages of scripture tell us that there were men who walked in the love commandment. Jesus is our role model, even at the cross, He prayed for the people who put Him on the cross. Jesus walked the walk of love.
The enemy will not draw near:
Love commandment works.1 Peter 2:9 says, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal; priesthood, a holy Nation, a peculiar people, that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” What is ‘marvelous’? It means, it causes us to marvel. In other words, it makes us wonder or it is a sign to an unbeliever and a miracle to a believer.
1 John 5:18 says,” We know that whosoever is born of God sins not, but he that is begotten of God keeps himself, and that wicked one touches him not.” Apostle John is talking about keeping ourselves in the love walk and keeping us in the light. And when the power works the way it is supposed to work, miracle begin to happen.
Every believer has the potential to walk in love. But one should choose love. We should always take the high road. The devil cannot touch believers who walk in the Light. He can’t touch us in that armor. The armor of Light drives the devil out wherever we go.
May the Lord transform us into the likeness of Christ. Amen.
