STAND AGAINST STRIFE

Product Description

Abraham said to Lot, ‘Please let there be no strife between you and me’ (Genesis 13:8) Abraham and Lot were so close to each other. That is why Abraham did not want stife to come in between them. Strife is one of the common problems that make the best friends the worst enemies. If we let strife, it gets all over us. It gets into our homes, our churches, our friends and everywhere. The problem is that, no one in their right mind want to be in strife but if we do not stand against strife, it just creeps into our lives.

As children of the Most High God, we have to develop the resistance to stand irritation. If you are someone who has the tendency to get irritated, then decide right now to stand against that tendency. One thing is for sure. This world is not a perfect place to live in nor the people are perfect. There are people who will irritate you, provoke you knowingly or unknowingly. Some are so irritating by nature. They just are in the provoking business. Some are nagging and complaining all the time. It is so natural to develop strife against such a person. That is why it is so important to take a stand against strife.

Proverbs 17:1 says, ‘The beginning of strife is like releasing water; therefore stop contention before a quarrel starts.’

We have to watch out for strife all the time because we do not hear God when we let those negative emotions take a hold of us. When we let people provoke us and get bitter, it is very hard to receive that inner witness or the quite guidance from the Holy Spirit.

Romans 12:18, ‘If possible, as for as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.’

The Bible clearly instructs us to be at peace with ‘everyone’. But the Bible also says in the above verse that ‘if possible’. Some take this verse and use it for their convenience and emphasis on that ‘if possible’ part. My question for you is are you living in peace with everyone? Are you making any progress in the way you are reacting to people?

James 3:16 says, ‘ For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.’

Have you noticed that the easiest place to get into strife is, home? People think as if it did not count there. I have noticed people who are kind to others are not kind to the family members. Perhaps the neighbor gets that beautiful smile each day that the family member is longing for! If that is your case, then you have to work on yourself.

After you make Jesus the Lord of your life, you need to realize that the first people who become recipients of your Godly character are your immediate family. It is so important to have harmony in the family. If we want the power of agreement to work in our lives, we cannot allow strife in our homes. Unless there is peace in Jerusalem (home), you cannot be a witness outside. That just cannot happen. First things first!

What strife actually does is it stops the results of prayer and most of all gives Satan a red carpet welcome. Satan walks into your life with all kinds of evil things and you wonder why things happen the way they happen. Strife paralyses the power of God in your life.

Keys to stand against strife:

1. Make up your mind:

This is the first step. You have to be determined not to let anyone or anything take your peace away. You cannot afford to loose your peace for anything. Peace is so important to us. It will keep your body and soul in good condition.

Isaiah 26:3 says, ‘You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.’

2. Spend time in prayer:

You have to take the situation to the Lord and seek God’s grace to forgive that person and to love that person the way God loves. Ask the Holy Spirit to come and fill you up. Then every time you start to get upset about someone, rebuke that strife in the name of Jesus and resist it. Take the help of the Holy Spirit. Do this until you break that habit of strife in your life. Work on it one moment at a time. You may have to work it one day at a time. But you can do it. Soon you will notice that you cannot be easily provoked.

3. Say it out loud:

Say it out loud; “I am walking in the peace of God today. I will not allow strife in my life. Strife, you have no place in me. I refuse to be in strife”

Do not allow the devil to stop you at your own front door by allowing strife in your homes. If you do, you will be no threat to the enemy anywhere else. Put the power of harmony and peace to work in your family. Walk in victory. Greater is He that is in you than He that is in the world. You can overcome any obstacle in Jesus name.

Let the God of peace; help you to stand against strife in Jesus’ name. Amen.
