TEACH US TO PRAY

Product Description

Isn’t it interesting to note that the disciples never asked Jesus to teach them how to perform miracles or how to become prosperous or how to heal sickness? All they asked Jesus to teach them was how to pray. Why? Because, prayer is the only way to get anything from heaven. In Luke 11:1, the Bible declares that the disciples said to Jesus, ‘Lord, teach us to pray as John also taught his disciples.’

Prayer is the key to unlock any closed doors. Jesus prayed almost one third of the day. Jesus prayed to raise Lazarus from the tomb. The Bible declares in Matthew 18: 19 that, ‘if two of you agree concerning anything in the earth, it shall be done by the Father in heaven’.

You cannot hold God accountable if you haven’t given your requests to God in prayer. Like the disciples, we need to ask God to teach us to pray. It is not enough to pray the same prayers that we have prayed always. We need to ask Jesus to teach us how to pray. The Holy Spirit is a great teacher. He will teach us if we ask Him.

Do not let strife hinder your prayer:

One of the greatest hindrances to prayer is ‘strife’. Let not your prayers be hindered! One key area we believers should work on is the area of relationships. We want to be prayer warriors on one side but we have criticized one another and judged one another so much that we have caused strife to come upon us on the other side. Strife in the family, strife at work and strife with the fellow believers have all paralyzed the power of prayer. The Bible tells us that where strife and envy is, there is every form of evil. That is so true!

We need to wake up to the danger of strife and begin to forgive people as quickly as we can for our own good. We need to walk in love and people should see the love of Christ in us.

Ephesians 4:3, 4 says, ‘Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling.’ We need to make sure, all the relationships we have in the family, in the church, at work and with our neighbors are all right in the sight of God. We need to make sure there is peace in all the relationships we have. Other wise, our prayers will be hindered.

Prayer is spending time with God:

I know this may sound strange. God is not looking for people who look pretty. He is not impressed by the fact that you know most of the scriptures or even how fluently you could speak in tongues. God is not looking for you to pray like some prayer warrior. What God is looking for is TIME with you. He wants you to talk to Him to spend time with Him in fellowship and friendship. He wants to talk to you as well. God wanted to talk with Adam and the Bible says that God walked in the garden in the cool of the day (Genesis 3:8).

Sadly, many have made prayer a ritual. On the contrary, it should pour out of a love affair with Jesus. You should love Jesus so much that you want to be in the company of Him as long as possible. Have you wondered why the lovers spend a lot of time with each other. It is because the love that they have for each other is so much. Prayer is an overflow of a love relationship.

Prayer is your secret weapon:

No weapon formed against you shall prosper. God has given us a secret weapon. I call it secret because, no one knows when you are going to pray. You may be driving but praying. You may be cooking your food and still be praying. No one knows when you are going to pray. Certainly, the devil does not know a thing about when you will start binding his works.

No one can stop you from praying. There are many nations that have put barriers for the gospel. But, they cannot put barriers to your prayers. Put a prayer covering. It is so important you put a prayer covering over yourself, your family, your city, your nation and the nations of the world. Jesus said in Luke 10:19, ‘Behold I give to you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy’.

Come boldly to the throne:

Hebrews 4:16 says, ‘Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need’.

When you invited Jesus into your life, one of the things you received is access to the throne of God Almighty. It is like a pass to the throne room of God Almighty. You can come to His throne whenever you want to and be there as long as you want to.

But most people do not pray like they believe it. They do not talk like they believe it. They are all the time begging and pleading with God. They think that they are not worthy to receive anything from God. Some intercessors say that they are bombarding the gates of heaven. Why bombard the gates of heaven when God has given access to come to His throne!

May the Lord teach you how to pray in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
